We strive to provide the best quality care! Our collaborative team of Licensed Practical Nurses (LPN), Personal Care Attendants (PCA), therapeutic recreation staff, Chefs, dietary aides, housekeeping and reception staff work together to meet and exceed our goals of care.
MANAGEMENT TEAM
Loralee Wettlaufer | General Manager
Loralee brings a strong background in operations combined with her passion for seniors and their families. A quick smile, open door and a commitment to problem solving are the foundations of her management.
After studying business marketing at Fanshawe College in London, ON, Loralee spent 6 months studying in a faith-based environment in Germany. Loralee has a personal commitment to growth and learning and throughout her career has completed Dale Carnegie Training and Training for Managers, through the Gardiner Centre, MUN, Team Supervision and Management Skills, Managing Competing Priorities and Lean Operational Excellence for Service Organizations, and Ken Blanchard’s Situational Leadership II.
Loralee has managed in Personal Care Homes for the past 6 years nurturing strong relationships with residents, families, and Eastern Health stakeholders.
She has a passion for aging adults, and their families and assisting with transitions into a care environment. “Let us do the heavy lifting of life (laundry, housekeeping, meal preparation) so you can focus your energy on living, your family and the activities that bring you joy.
Loralee is a Newfoundlander by choice. Her family moved to Newfoundland and Labrador in 2010 to fulfill a dream and have never looked back. If you ask, “will you move back to Ontario?” the quick response will be, “Do they have an ocean there?” When not working she’ll can be found at the ocean hiking, whale watching and beachcombing. She also enjoys travel, cooking, knitting and spending time with family and friends.
Stephanie Neville | Director of Recreation
Stephanie Neville is a Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist, with a Bachelor of Recreation (Co-Operative) from Memorial University of Newfoundland. She also holds a diploma in Health and Human Sciences in Therapeutic Recreation with Honors and Distinction from Academy Canada.
For the last four years Stephanie has been working in a health care role within long-term care delivering recreational services to older adults and young adults with varying physical and intellectual abilities.
Stephanie has a passion for providing exceptional Therapeutic Recreational programming and believes strongly in inclusive leisurely services for older adults.
When not working, Stephanie enjoys knitting, sewing, baking, refurbishing furniture and spending time with family. In addition, she also has an interest in nature and geology. Stephanie loves to meet new people and learn about their life story.
She loves developing and implementing meaningful programs for the residents of Bishops Gardens!
Sharon Hodder | LPN, Director of Care
Sharon was raised in a small fishing village on the Burin Peninsula and moved to St John’s at the age of 16. A proud alumni of Bishops College, Sharon attended secretary school, married and raised 3 children.
Nursing and caregiving were Sharon’s passion and she worked at a Personal Care Attendant and Home Support Worker for many years. When the opportunity presented itself, Sharon jumped on board with both feet and applied to the Centre for Nursing Studies LPN program.
With family present, Sharon proudly graduated as an LPN and embarked on a new and exciting adventure. At the retirement residences where she already worked as a PCA, she quickly transitioned into the role of LPN and Team Lead.
After 5 years in this role, Sharon’s thirst for a new challenge led her to the Director of Care role at Bishops Gardens. She brings enormous passion, excitement and humility to our residents and her old stomping grounds.
